Contained in the landscape is an ignored electro-nervous system. Conventional images of the Scottish landscape present it as wild, untouched and folkloric, but its identity is constructed, designed to fit into the narrative of a remote landscape sitting outwith time. Within the landscape sits obsolete technology, layers of buried data.

This map invites you to explore these hidden and embedded technologies through sounds, videos and digital interactions of walks in the Scottish countryside. This work plays with eroding the binarism between nature and technology and seeks to explore the embeddedness of technology within the landscape and symbiotic ecological relationships between technology, identity and land. This map is open commons and digital walks can be uploaded.

🔊Sounds are recorded with telephone pick-up mics that capture electromagnetic waves of the sites, transforming them into sounds.
